Do it like a pro

Whatever you do today, do it like a pro.  If no one were watching and you could easily cut corners, what if you didn’t?  What if you did it properly?  What if you did it like you care?

Whether it’s cleaning the sink or taking notes in a lecture, be a pro about it.

Because you can get away with doing an only-ok job and you can borrow someone else’s notes but then today might be the same as yesterday and you’ll never know how you might have been a little bit changed if you had cared a little bit more.

Oprah Winfrey said she didn’t know what she wanted to do when she grew up. She just knew she’d be the best at it… if she’d worked in a shoe store she would’ve sold the most shoes because

“Whatever I would be doing I would find a way to […] excel at it”

John Paul deJoria drifted in and out of homelessness until the age of 36 before becoming one of the very few entrepreneurs to start multiple multi billion dollar enterprises including Paul Mitchell hair care.

If you can sell shampoo like a pro when you’re living out of your car with your young son, you can do anything as if it matters, as if you’re becoming the best at it.

It’s up to you to give meaning to the things you do.

And when you give them meaning, you start caring about getting better.

What meaning are you going to give the things you do today?  What are you going to do like a pro?
