Hunched over my coffee, I’m thinking about my excuses not to post today. Late night. Early morning. Walking the dog. Many, many worky things. I could probably find a few other things to add to the list.
But so could everyone. Every day. About everything.
Some people have really, really good excuses. And not just for not doing one thing one day…
Helen Keller lost her sight and hearing before her second birthday… and went on to become the first deaf-blind person to achieve a Bachelors degree.
C J Walker was born the daughter of slaves. By the time she died, she was known as “the wealthiest self-made woman in America”.
Malala Yousafzi literally got shot in the head but that didn’t stop her from continuing to advocate for the right to education… global style.
There are so many incredible excuses not to do incredible things.
And people will understand. They’ll sympathise. You’ll get away with it.
But what if you didn’t try to get away with it? What if you decided to do the work and make something happen instead? What if you made a bold promise to yourself and insisted on keeping it regardless of the reasons not to?
So, on second thoughts, maybe I will find a way to post something today…
