Go placidly amid the noise and haste…

In the alphabet of doing what you love… today’s post comes to you by the letters V and W (not ‘X’ yet… still have no idea what to do for ‘X’… definitely going to have to cheat for that one)…

V is very, very extraordinary

This is a shameless excuse to plagiarise one of my favourite songs…

L is for the way you look at me

O is for the only one I see

V is very, very extraordinary

E is even more than anyone that you adore

Nat King Cole

Extra– ordinary… outside or beyond the usual order of things.

When you do what you love, it pulls you out of the ordinary world and draws the best out of you. You create your own world, make your own rules, live your own life…

The legend himself
W is for Wholehearted

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others,
even to the dull and ignorant; they too have their story

Avoid loud and aggressive persons;

They are vexatious to the spirit

[…]

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe

No less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here

Doing what you love doesn’t make the ‘loud/aggressive/vexatious’ stuff disappear. Sometimes it actually turns up the volume because you’re doing something out of the ordinary, you’re not doing the same old thing every day.

But doing what you love turns up the volume on the good stuff too.

It gives you a chance to become more vulnerable and stronger. More open to honesty and tougher on nonsense. More trusting of your own judgement and less dependent on the approval of others.

Doing what you love allows you to stop pretending and stop trying to impress so you can spend your time and energy bringing your whole self into your work.

And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be.

And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.

Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.
